$200K Grant To EDF To Continue Work On Idle and Abandoned Wells
We are excited to announce another large grant to EDF (Environmental Defense Fund) of $200K. These funds will be focused on helping end abandoned wells in the United States. Through this partnership, EDF is working to help states create new policies.
Leaking abandoned gas wells are a huge problem for climate change as methane is a very powerful greenhouse gas, with over 80 times the warming power of carbon dioxide over the first 20 years. Worked to address this issue and stop wells from becoming abandoned in the first place is hugely important. The goal is for new policies to be put in place that makes sure all wells are plugged at the end of their useful life, so that they can never become abandoned.
